The Stainless Steel Patio Heater runs on propane and connects via a 27mm clip-on propane regulator — the standard fitting for UK outdoor patio heaters. The heater comes supplied with a hose and regulator; check the fitting supplied before ordering your cylinder. Compatible Flogas cylinders from Eastern Gases are the 11kg Leisure Patio Gas and the 10kg Gaslight, both available with free delivery across London.
The Stainless Steel Patio Heater is rated to cover approximately 23m² — enough for a medium garden seating area of 5–6 people. At maximum output (13kW), the heat is most effective within approximately 2–3 metres in still conditions. Wind reduces effective coverage; positioning the heater in a sheltered spot or using a windbreak improves performance noticeably. The variable output (5–13kW) lets you turn the heat down on milder evenings to save gas, though lowering the output also reduces the effective warming radius somewhat.

The Stainless Steel Patio Heater has a variable output from 5kW to 13kW — running at a lower setting extends cylinder life significantly. Using an 11kg Leisure Patio Gas cylinder (~141 kWh):

  • 13kW (maximum heat): approx. 11 hours
  • 9kW (medium output): approx. 16 hours
  • 5kW (minimum output): approx. 28 hours

At 2–3 hours of evening use on a medium setting, an 11kg cylinder will typically last 5–8 evenings. A 10kg Gaslight cylinder gives approximately 10% shorter run-time at the same settings.

Choose the Stainless Steel if you want a practical, adjustable heater at a lower price point. Choose the Real Flame Pyramid if the visible flame effect and premium appearance matter — it suits restaurants, terraces, and gardens where the heater is part of the setting.

Propane is the correct choice for this heater and for outdoor patio heating in the UK generally. Butane underperforms below 5°C — its pressure drops as temperatures fall, weakening the flame at exactly the times you need the most heat. Propane maintains consistent pressure and output down to −42°C, making it reliable through autumn and winter. The Stainless Steel Patio Heater's 27mm clip-on connection is a propane fitting; butane cylinders use a 21mm clip-on and are not compatible.
