It is a popular size for households that BBQ occasionally and prefer not to store a larger cylinder.
For a medium-sized gas BBQ used most weekends (one to two sessions per week, 30–60 minutes each), a 6kg cylinder typically lasts four to six weeks in summer. If you cook on the BBQ more frequently or for longer sessions, a 10kg Gaslight or 11kg patio propane will reduce how often you need to reorder.

Run-time depends on your BBQ's heat output — check the kilowatt (kW) rating on the data label fixed to the unit or in the instruction manual. Propane has a calorific value of approximately 12.87 kWh per kg, so a 6kg cylinder contains around 77 kWh of usable energy.

Yes — the 6kg Flogas Leisure Propane is suitable for caravanning and camping use. It connects via a 27mm clip-on propane regulator, the standard fitting on most UK caravan cookers, gas hobs, and portable propane appliances. The 6kg size is compact enough for a caravan gas locker and light enough to carry to a campsite.

Propane is the better gas choice for touring in variable UK weather. Unlike butane, which struggles to vaporise below around 2°C, propane performs reliably down to −42°C — so you will not lose pressure or heat output on a cold morning. If your caravan currently runs on butane, check the regulator before switching: a blue 21mm clip-on means butane; a red 27mm clip-on means propane. The two are not interchangeable, and switching gas type requires a new regulator.

For longer trips or full-season touring, a 10kg Gaslight offers roughly 65% more run-time in the same compact composite format and may reduce how often you need a refill.

The gas is the same propane but the valve connections differ. The 6kg Leisure uses a 27mm clip-on connection for domestic appliances.
