The High Output Outdoor Cooker has a maximum rated output of 8.8kW and runs on either butane or propane — check the regulator supplied with the unit before ordering your cylinder. Eastern Gases stocks both:

  • Butane (21mm clip-on): 7kg (~11 hours at full output) or 13kg (~20 hours) — suited to indoor or well-sheltered use
  • Propane (clip-on or POL): 11kg (~16 hours at full output) or 19kg (~28 hours) — recommended for outdoor use in all weather conditions

For a one-person market stall or outdoor catering setup, a 13kg butane or 11kg propane cylinder will cover a full trading day with capacity to spare. For multi-day events or multi-burner setups, a 19kg or 47kg propane cylinder gives the longest run-time between deliveries.

No certification is required to purchase the cooker or the gas cylinders. For outdoor and mobile catering use, the relevant framework is the Liquid Gas UK Code of Practice 24 (mobile and temporary catering), which covers how LPG appliances should be installed, operated, and maintained on market stalls and temporary catering setups.

Any installation or modification work on gas appliances should be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer. Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, food businesses and market traders also have a general obligation to ensure their equipment is safe for use — this includes regular appliance checks and keeping the hose and regulator in good condition.

Yes — the High Output Outdoor Cooker is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. It is suited to large pans, woks, and high-volume cooking where a standard domestic hob lacks the output. For indoor use, adequate ventilation is essential: ensure windows or doors are open and air can circulate freely.

Incomplete combustion of LPG produces carbon monoxide — do not use the cooker in a sealed room or without a ventilation source. For indoor use, butane is the appropriate gas choice; propane is better suited to outdoor use where cold temperatures could affect butane vaporisation.

Yes — the compact 38cm × 38cm footprint and included 2m hose make it practical for a market stall, pop-up kitchen, or catering event. At 8.8kW it delivers the heat output needed to bring large stockpots and woks to temperature quickly, which is essential for busy service periods. For outdoor use, propane is the recommended gas choice — it performs reliably in cold weather, unlike butane which loses pressure below 5°C.

A 19kg propane cylinder gives approximately 28 hours of full-output cooking, covering several days of trading without a refill. For mobile and temporary catering, the relevant regulatory framework is the Liquid Gas UK Code of Practice 24; any installation or modification work should be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

A typical domestic gas hob burner produces 1–3kW — a standard ring around 1.75kW, a large or semi-wok burner up to 3.5kW. At 8.8kW, the High Output Outdoor Cooker produces roughly three times the heat of a large domestic burner. In practice this means a full stockpot reaches boiling point in a fraction of the time, wok cooking works at the temperatures needed for proper high-heat stir-frying, and large-batch tasks — jam making, brewing, deep-fat frying — become practical in a way they are not on a domestic hob.

At 8.8kW, this is an outdoor or commercial-kitchen output level — not a domestic indoor appliance. If used indoors, the ventilation requirement is meaningful: at this output, incomplete combustion in a poorly ventilated space can produce carbon monoxide at concentrations that build quickly. The cooker is designed for outdoor use or spaces with equivalent airflow; treat it accordingly rather than as a powerful kitchen hob that happens to use gas cylinders.
